BE IT RESOLVED, that the use of the Hennepin County Government Center South Plaza by the Central Minnesota Vegetables Growers Association (dba Minneapolis Farmers Market) for the Minneapolis Farmers Market from May 4, 2017 through November 9, 2017 be approved; and that Facility Services and Communications be directed to make the necessary arrangements. |

In spring 2016, the Minneapolis Downtown Council approached Hennepin County to determine if there was interest/opportunity to hold the market at the Government Center. On April 12, 2016, the County Board approved a Building Use Agreement to host the Downtown Farmers Market for the year. The relocation to the Government Center - South Plaza proved to be a tremendous success and Hennepin County has been approached to host the 2017 Farmers Market.
The market will again be part of the county's efforts to bring downtown workers and commuters to Government Center events over the lunch hour which will include Summer on the Plaza music, lawn games and food vendors. The Farmers Market will kick off Thursday, May 4 and will be open each Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through the outdoor Farmers Market season ending November 9.
