Background: In 2006 Hennepin County and Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. (“HHS”) entered into a Ground Lease and Sublease Agreement (“the Lease”) for nearly all properties used by HHS. The Lease was executed in 2006 at the time of the statutory creation of HHS and it included properties and structures through which Hennepin County operated the Hennepin County Medical Center. Over the years Hennepin County has acquired certain sites in other locations for outpatient services and a medical office building on behalf of HHS. The Lease has been amended to include these properties.

The property where the Whittier Clinic was inadvertently left out of a prior amendment to the Ground Lease and Sublease Agreement and this resolution authorizes County execution of the amendment adding the Whittier property to the Ground Lease and Sublease Agreement.

Current Request: This request seeks authority to execute an amendment of the Ground Lease and Sublease Agreement between Hennepin County and Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. to add the following property:

• Whittier Clinic:  PID No. 34-029-24-34-0300.  Lot 1, Block 1, HHS Addition.
