WHEREAS, National Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week is observed annually during the third week of July; and
WHEREAS, community corrections is an essential part of the criminal justice system nationally and in Hennepin County; and
WHEREAS, the dedicated staff and volunteers in the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation deliver sustainable correctional supervision to more than 22,000 adult and juvenile clients in Hennepin County, at any given time; and
WHEREAS, probation and parole officers strive to provide clients with educational services and resources that are culturally specific and trauma responsive to their needs, and help them take steps towards finding a better path forward in their lives that reduces the likelihood of recidivism, and promotes a safer Hennepin County.
