| | | | | | | | Background:
Casey Family Programs is an organization that works in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and two territories and with more than a dozen tribal nations to influence long-lasting improvements to the safety and success of children, families and the communities where they live.
Hennepin County and Casey Family Programs have had a collaboration agreement since 2018 supporting the County’s long-term effort to transform our child protection system and adjust focus to a preventative, child wellbeing
model.
This action and additional funding, effective July 1, 2022, support the county’s disparity reduction efforts by focusing on family preservation in communities of color experiencing high rates of maltreatment through institutional analysis by the American Bar Association’s Center on Children and the Law (ABA) to assess policies and practices that lead to disparate outcomes. This also includes focused engagement of American-Indian and African American Communities through a multi-disciplinary, community approach to prevent entries of their children into foster care and expand community-based services to keep families together safely. | |
