BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreement PR00004533 with Computer Forensic Services LLC to provide digital forensic services for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office during the period October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2025 in an amount not to exceed $850,000, be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed. |

The Sheriff's Office Forensic Sciences Lab has limited staff dedicated to digital forensics, but as technology has advanced, with smart phones, tablets, removable storage devices, hard drives and laptop usage, the demand for these services has grown.
Since 2014 the Sheriff's Office has been using third party vendors that specialize in this work. Computer Forensic Services works with the Sheriff's Office Investigations Division to perform:
- analysis of digital devices
- technology management
- data storage and preservation services
- expert witness preparation and testimony related reimbursable expenses
