Background:
History: Pedestrian ramps on Penn Avenue North (CSAH 2) between Hawthorne Avenue North and 23rd Avenue North in the City of Minneapolis have been identified for reconstruction to meet current guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). On August 1, 2017, bids were received for ADA pedestrian ramp reconstruction under CP 2165600 from three contractors. The bids ranged from $320,491 to $398,885 (engineer’s estimate - $405,300) with the lowest responsive bid submitted by Standard Sidewalk, Inc. The project is scheduled to begin fall 2017 and provides for the reconstruction of 46 pedestrian ramp locations.
Current Request: This request is to award a contract for ADA pedestrian ramp construction under CP 2165600, in the amount of $320,491.50, to Standard Sidewalk, Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder.
To accommodate the estimated construction costs and provide a contingency it is recommended that CP 2165600 be established as a project in the 2017 Capital Budget with a project budget of $346,000 financed by the transfer of $346,000 (State Aid) from the Capital Budget line item Pedestrian Ramps (2999965) to CP 2165600.
