Background:
History: In October 2017, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) issued a Request for Proposals for activities related to housing-based health threats. The Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HCHRA) submitted an application to MDH and was awarded a three-year, $60,000 Healthy Homes grant. The HCHRA will receive $20,000 in 2018 and funding for the additional two years will be subject to additional appropriation of state funds.
This award will allow the HCHRA to provide up to 110 assessments for health and safety hazards and provide supplies to remediate household hazards such as asthma triggers or trips/falls.
This is the second award from MDH to the HCHRA for Healthy Homes. In 2014, the HCHRA was awarded $120,000 from MDH and completed 214 home assessments and provided hazard remediation assistance to 127 families.
Current Request: This request is for approval of Agreement A188580 with Minnesota Department of Health for a Healthy Homes grant for the period February 14, 2018 through June 30, 2020 with the estimated receivable amount of $60,000.
Impact/Outcomes: Approval of this agreement will provide healthy homes assessments to approximately 110 homes and supplies to remediate identified hazards.
