Contract award to Versacon, Inc., for the Brookdale Third Courtroom project (Capital Project 0031840), Contract 4814A8, 07/25/18-12/31/19, NTE $653,482
Resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED, that Contract 4814A8 be awarded to Versacon, Inc., for the Brookdale Third Courtroom project (Capital Project 0031840) during the period July 25, 2018 through December 31, 2019 in the amount not to exceed $653,482; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the county after the performance and payment bonds have been properly executed; and the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.  

Background:

Project Description: During original construction of Brookdale Regional Center, the third courtroom was left unfinished for future need. This project will finish the third courtroom shell and remodel the existing clerks space, located within the Brookdale Regional Center. The project scope includes minor interior remodeling to provide functional improvements including, framing, finish carpentry, flooring, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and security.

Current Request: Through the best value procurement process, a Request for Proposals was released on May 22, 2018. A total of eight proposals were received on June 13, 2018. Based on the results of the selection process, which included evaluation and interviews, Versacon, Inc. received the highest overall rating of the three lowest priced proposers, based on cost, written submittals and interviews of critical team members. Staff believes that Versacon Services, Inc. represents the best value to the county and recommends that it be awarded the contract for the project in the amount of $653,482. The contractor’s Affirmative Action Plan and Small Business Enterprise participation goals are pending approval.

 

Impact/Outcomes: The Brookdale Third Courtroom project will allow District Court staff from Southdale to relocate to Brookdale. The overall goal of this project allows for closing of the Southdale Regional site.
