Resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreement A189173 with the State of Minnesota, Department of Natural Resources for a Productive Day employment and training program during the period September 4, 2018 through October 31, 2018 in the not to exceed amount of $22,000, be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to accept and disburse funds as directed.

Background:

Client & Community Restoration’s Productive Day Program provides county involved adults and youth the opportunity to receive training and work experience necessary to secure livable wage employment that supports them, their families and the community.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has identified an eight week pilot program with capacity to employ six adult Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) clients. Clients will be supervised by a current DOCCR Sentencing to Service Crew Leader and will work four days a week, ten hours per day. Participants will work on tasks that support natural resource management at Afton State Park, primarily removal and trimming of woody species, survey and mapping populations of invasive species, and harvesting prairie seeds for revegetation and restoration efforts. Participants will be short-term DNR employees earning $15.30/hour plus fringe benefits, with DOCCR reimbursing the state for 50% payroll costs.

This program represents a collaboration between DOCCR, HIRED, DNR, and Project for Pride in Living.
