Establish a public hearing on December 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. to receive public comments on the proposed changes to the Sales and Use Transportation Tax Implementation Plan
Resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED, that a public hearing to receive comments on proposed changes to the Hennepin County Sales and Use Transportation Tax Implementation Plan, be held before the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, December 5, at 1:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable, in the Board Room (A-2400) of the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and that the county administrator take such actions as are appropriate to provide notice of the hearing including posting the draft changes on the County website.

Background:

History: On June 13, 2017, through Board Action 17-0207, after a required public hearing, the Hennepin County Board adopted a one half of one percent sales and use tax and excise tax of $20 per motor vehicle for transportation and transit purposes as authorized by Minnesota Statutes Section 297A.993. That statute requires that a County levying such taxes also designate the proposed uses of the revenues from those taxes. Accordingly, the Board then approved a Sales and Use Transportation Tax Implementation Plan. The Plan also provides that the permitted uses may be changed by further action of the Board after a public hearing.

 

The resolution would set a public hearing to receive comments on proposed changes to uses of the sales and use tax revenues as designated in the Sales and Use Transportation Tax Implementation Plan.

 

Current Request: Establish a public hearing be held before the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, December 5, at 1:00 p.m.
