Background:
The County Board’s Open Appointments Policy and MN Statutes section 383B.102 requires that an appointment to unclassified service have confirmation by the Board of Commissioners.
Ms. Boerner received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL in 1989. In 1994, she graduated Magna Cum Laude receiving her J.D. from Hamline Law School.
Ms. Boerner has worked in the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office for 27 years starting as a Head Law Clerk in 1992. She served as an Attorney from 1994-2009 and in 2009 became a Managing Attorney. In 2014, Ms. Boerner became the First Assistant Public Defender.
The County Administrator requests the board confirm the appointment of Ms. Boerner to the unclassified position of Director to be consistent with the other director positions in the county. The director position best represents the responsibilities in providing strategic direction, operational accountability and budgetary responsibility for the Adult Representation Services Division.
